Book Review Bliss: The Hand That First Held Mine

Hello Bliss Seekers, there are simply some moments that just lend themselves to being defined as complete bliss. The day I took this picture was definitely one of them. My plan was to finish my then current book club read outdoors and in peace. My chosen beach setting did not disappoint, the tide was low, the beach was peacefully quiet and a refreshing breeze softly brushed my skin. Mr P joined me with a latte in hand, which completed the moment of bliss!

I got the book finished and have to tell you it was a fantastic read. It was one of those books that kept me thinking about it's characters for days after. The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O'Farrell hooked me from the first few pages. So gracefully written, this story is full of revelation after revelation right through to it's very end. I loved that just when I thought I had this story figured out, I was hit with more startling information and other little red herrings along the way. What started out as separate  stories of two women over two different time periods, became one story of an everlasting and authentic connection between a parent and child. Maggie successfully weaves a theme of the fragility of life juxtaposed against true strength in life. Remember this title when your looking for your next great read, you won't be disappointed.

Sending much bliss, Heather xx
