Image Bliss : Smart Phone V's DSLR

Hello there Bliss Seekers. Today I pose the question; what do you use most to take photos, your smartphone or a digital SLR? When I began this blog I took all of my photos for it with my smart phone, which was at the time my new toy. My sister introduced me to the wonderful world of photography apps and consequently, my earlier posts featured many images saturated with the use of bright filters.

As my knowledge about blogging grew, so too did my desire to produce amazing images that reflected the beauty of my coastal surroundings. I dusted off my DSLR, that honestly hadn't seen the light of day since my smartphone entered my life, and began snapping. I quickly realised that I definitely preferred to publish the crisp clear digital images of my SLR. Still itching to use my smart phone and all of the cool apps I'd accumulated, I decided that Instagram would become a creative extension of my My Ocean Bliss images.

Photography and the art of capturing emotion through images is a true love of mine. I am not a professional, that's for sure, but thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in improving my knowledge and skill level. Who knows, maybe one day I will be known for my blissful ocean loving images. In the mean time, I have continued to use my Canon  to practice old school photography techniques. My smart phone and it's cool apps are also being put to good use in producing a little more laid back and quirky style of photographic creativity which I post daily on Instagram.

So, what do you prefer to use? A smart phone camera, a digital SLR or something different altogether? I'd love to know! Sending you much bliss, Heather xx

  1. I know, it's so east to become 'lazy' and just snap with the phone. I did the same. I'm returning to my 'real' camera though...most of the time :)
