|Miss R in costume|
Have you ever experienced a momentary flash when you know that what your doing right there and then is a great thing to be doing? The internal knowing that you are doing exactly what you are meant to be at that very moment in time? Well I had it this week. It was in preparation for the extremely built up day of Halloween.
My daughter has been on a count down for the whole month of October in anticipation of this day. She is our party animal and loves any excuse to dress up or celebrate. The plans were made, this year Miss R was going trick or treating with one of her best friends and she could not have been more excited! It was the night before the big event and I was adjusting her halloween costume. Miss R was sitting next to me talking at a hundred miles to the second about how excited she was, and then it hit me with a big old gut feeling that made the hair on my arms stand up.
|Trick or Treat|
Today, I was a great mum! I connected with my daughter over something that meant the world to her at that very point in time, and today I was going to admit I was doing a good job as Miss R's mum. It is an amazing feeling. Instead of feeling burdened or rushed or that there is no end to the jobs on my 'mum list', I chose to take the time to accept the joy in the moment. It doesn't have to be in the midst of parenting; it can happen when you are at work, being creative, exercising or talking to a friend. Give it a go next time you get the opportunity, all it takes is a moment to stop and acknowledge the thought or feeling that has washed over you. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
